My diary at 22 weeks:
How big are the babies? They are big! They are the length of a spaghetti squash. I really don't see how that is possible though, I have one sitting in my kitchen and there's NO WAY there are TWO of those in ma'belly! :)
Their big changes this week: The bebes are getting into their sleep groove, snoozing 12-14 hours a day. Their eyes are developed, but their irises still lack color. Their permanent eye color won't be official until they are born and around 9 months old. Can't wait to see those beautiful eyes!!! And a week ago at my appointment Dr. Thorn (love that guy!) said they were measuring 14 and 15 ounces ... so this week they are over a pound I'm sure! Wahoo!!!
Cravings this week? Nothing new to report! I have been trying to pay more attention to my protein intake, because it is a difficult thing for me to get as much protein as is recommened. For twin pregnancies, they say 110-130 grams of protein A DAY! I have (much to my chagrin) taken up eating eggs in the morning to help me get closer to that goal. Not my favorite thing, but I'm doing it for the bebes, so it's all good!
New news/blessings?
- I'm really doing very well! Loving every minute of this whole blessing!
- I'm very excited and can't stop thinking about them coming and sharing love with them!
- Last weekend I had some strange heart things, inconsistent beats, elevated heart rate, even while resting (making it very hard to calm down to sleep, etc), so my Dr. wanted me to have an EKG done. It was all fine, except my heart rate is elevated, and has been since, but he said that I'm just working extra hard growing two little ones, so it's nothing to worry about yet. He doesn't want to stick me on meds (nor do I want them) so he just told me to take it easy and keep and eye on it.
- We started a pregnancy/birth class (The Bradley Method) and I'm loving it. It focuses on nutrition during pregnancy, exercises to strengthen and give you stamina during delivery and beyond, doing things naturally and drug free, and is just super informative for a newby like me. It's giving me lots of peace of mind just knowing what my body is capable of and will go through. Very thankful for it!
Weight: 167
Total gain? 11 pounds ... not that it really matters!
Showing? Yep! I finally have people asking me if I'm pregant that didn't know I was pregnant already, which could be dangerous ground, haha, asking someone if they're pregs without actually knowing! The milk man (who knows I am pregs) even told me this week that I looked "pleasantly plump!" ... I laughed! That was way better than the guy that said I looked like I had gone of my diet. Grrrrr. Still not happy with that man! :)
Inches around? 40
Maternity clothes? I'm still in my "regular" clothes, but I did buy a pair of maternity jeans. They stay up better than my jeans with a Bellaband.
Girl/Girl, Boy/Boy, Boy/Girl thoughts? What do you think?
New dance moves? I can feel them with my hand on my belly bumping around on occasion now. It's the best! I'm loving it! And I think one of them may have had the hiccups yesterday, maybe? It was a consistent bump ... bump ... bump ... bump.
Things people say: I'd say the most common one (which I was warned about) is, "Twins? You're going to have your hands full!" Yes, thank you, I know ... and I'm MEGA EXCITED about it!
Silly nicknames for the bebes? Fruit Loops, Bebes, Beans.
Complaints? None! (This will never change!)
Feeling in general? So excited! And beyond blessed.
{The Fruit Loops are due February 28th, 2013!}
